Waddesdon Greenway

Why the hell aren’t there more cycle/walking routes like Waddesdon greenway out there. This is literally the perfect and possibly one of the most safest places to take the kids cycling or in our case scooting.

Waddesdon Greenway

Waddesdon Greenway

I know that Waddesdon Greenway has been covered a lot by other bloggers too but this is the first time we’ve been ourselves. A couple of friends had told us about it too but my bikes a pain in the arse to fit on a bike rack so we haven’t gotten round to it. Scooters were easy enough for us.

I will tell you where we parked and I’ve done a bit of digging and I’m still not sure if you’re allowed to park there or not but until we’re told otherwise I guess we’ll keep doing it. We parked in Waddesdon car park, Loads of space and free we’re NT members anyway so we felt a little less guilty.

Make sure you park as close to the bottom of the car park as you can as this is where the greenway starts. Elliot had fallen asleep in the car and was in an even bigger douche bag mood than he was before he fell asleep. Try explaining to a 3 year old the reason he’s tired is because he keeps walking at 5am!!!!

I ditched the husbeast with Elliot and buggered off with Clark who for once wasn’t whinging that I’d made him leave the house again. Old stroppy bollocks eventually caught up with us and soon cheered up.

About Waddesdon Greenway

So basically its a huge ass cycle/walking path that runs from Waddesdon through to Aylesbury vale parkway. It’s a tarmac path so its perfect for wheels. There are a few gentle slopes too. The best part is it runs through the countryside with absolutely no roads to worry about (Apart from crossing one at the start).

We could let the kids just go because we could see for miles and we didn’t do the full length. We Just went as far as we thought the kids could go without moaning and having to carry them and their scooters back. Its 4km each way and I know my kids would not have made it on scooters.

What we did see of the route the boys loved. We made a bit of a fuck up (I blame the husbeast) We left the helmets behind. Please don’t be irresponsible dicks like us. Especially if you have a child like Elliot that falls over everything.

I cant really say too much more because we didn’t get to the other end. I can imagine that Clark will love watching trains at the other end when we get the bikes up there though. The views were really lovely and the farmers crops and flowers looked great. We even saw a tractor at one point too.

Conclusion

Waddesdon Greenway was a brilliant find for us. Its a great change of scenery to the usual bike route round by us and a shit load safer too.

What we saw was well maintained and you can see the bikers coming from a good distance. This gave us loads of time to make sure the kids were out of the way. This made it easier for social distancing purposes too.
