February Half Term

February half term feel like its upon us in no time after Christmas. I’m hoping that this one wont be as expensive as the last one.

This half term we’re going to ram as much activities down the kids throats I’m hoping it’ll mean they wont have as much time to whinge or moan. Ha yeah and we’re going to see a troupe of flying pigs too!

Anyhow there’s actually a fair amount going on so it would seem. So pull out those wellies because without a doubt it’ll be pissing it down. Put the kids in their waterproofs and get them outside. Sod the weather i’d rather get wet and cold that stay indoors with the kids all week.

Please click on the place names for the links to the events 🙂

RHS Wisley.

Now this one is a bit of a drive. I went here to see their Christmas lights and they were amazing and so were the gardens in general. They even have a huge glass house with a waterfall. I knew then that i wanted to take the kids back to visit. What a perfect opportunity this half term is. The Great Brick safari!!! yep Lego, Huge Lego animals throughout the garden. Its going to be awesome. There will be other activities over half term too. Check out their website by clicking on the name.

Bucks Railway centre

One for the train fanatics out there. Weirdly enough that would be my son. However we still havent been. Maybe this February half term is the time to go.  They are open for steam train rides on the following days. Sunday 17th February, Wednesday 20th February and Sunday 24th February. They will also be open on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th February for a static day when the site is open but trains aren’t running. Ticket prices are much reduced on these days.

Waddesdon Manor

As usual one of The Family Tickets favourite are putting on some fun activities to entertain your kids over the half term. They’ve got Orienteering (aka go round in circles because who knows how to read a map anymore) and a Family cooking school ( something i could definitely benefit from) Don’t forget their awesome play area too. Click the name and it’ll send you to their website for more information. Waddesdon half term

Rushmere Country Park

I know i go on about this place all the time but i just cant help it we love it here. This February half term they have their Xplorer challenge. Its pretty much Orienteering like at Waddesdon encouraging Children to be outdoors, using map reading skills, and marker finding. The sessions are for all the family to enjoy from all age ranges. Have a look at their event page. Even if this isn’t your thing the sculpture trail is still awesome.

Millets Farm

We all love Millets…… I think. I did go to their Circus show during the summer holidays last year and it was ok. I think the highlight was seeing the woman swinging those burning balls of fire round, Misjudging and smashing herself in the Vag though. This February half term they have the return of Magic Pete (was hoping for magic mike myself but i guess it is for the kids). I will keep you updated if they decide to pull any more activities out of their hat. (only photo of Millets i could find to hand)

Stanwick Lakes

Despite me doing my cankle in 2 days before Chrismas and it still not being fully healed. Stanwick lakes has one of the best play parks if not the best play park out there. If the weathers any good then go. It’ll still be muddy but the kids will love you forever. This February half term they have their Mythical slime lab too on the 21st and 22nd of Feb.

Mead Open Farm

This is another farm park on the list of places to visit. It seems like a good one to go to. This February half term they also have their Lambing season in full swing. Have a cuddle and maybe get to feed one too.

Irchester Country park

Just down the road From Stanwick and Rushmere is this bad boy. Yet another awesome Country park and they too like Rushmere have an Xplorer trail. However that’s not it. They also have a spring quiz trail (map not needed so better for the smaller ones) and a nest box building day. I’m tempted by the nest box building day because Clark loves Nests. Again this place has an awesome play area and stunning forest too.

Waterperry Gardens

Seems like trails are the thing this February half term and Waterperry gardens are jumping aboard that band wagon with their Alphabet I spy trail. From the 16th to the 24th of February. There is a cost but the kids do win a prize. ( it was a pretty naff prize last time though). If you do go here make sure you do the river walk, its really lovely.

Yarnton Nurseries

OK it may not be called that anymore but I’m sure you all know where I’m talking about. These guys seem to be pulling all the stops for the kids this February half term. What’s even better is its all free. You can Get crafty by making cress heads and recycling activities on Monday and Friday, Dizzy Dan is returning on Tuesday and Thursday for his very popular magic shows, from 11am-3pm. with other bits and bobs going on throughout. I for one am looking forward to seeing what their new soft play looks like when its finished.

Cotswold Farm Park

Its their lambing week for February half term. Sounds lovely though if I’m honest i can imagine Clark’s reaction to seeing a Lamb being born. Elliot will probably be screaming “big poo” while Clark will be grossed out. However there no disputing Lambs are super cute!

I Know the list is small for now but its a work in progress. I will keep updating it as soon as i find anything worthy of adding to the list. As usual feel free to drop me an email of message on Fb and let me know if there’s something you think will be of interest.

Earth Trust

I’ve not been here yet but its on the list. I couldn’t leave them out because it looks like they’re making a lot of effort to entertain our kids. I’m going to be making an effort to try and get over there for half term.

Its all outdoorsy fun a fair few bit have already booked up but the still have : Mud pie Monday, Wildlife Wednesday, Discover and play (Friday) and their Lambing weekends to go and see.
